Meet the Team

Our Board of Directors keeps the wheels turning - on and off the track. This dedicated crew of skaters, volunteers, and coaches oversee league operations, uphold our mission, and makes sure every decision supports the growth of our skaters and the sport we love. They bring passion, strategy, and a whole lot of grit to everything they do.

    Coach Nate has 20 years of coaching experience, with 15 of those in roller derby for many organizations.

    Talladega Nate has been working with FoCo Junior Roller Derby for 10 years. For the past 6 years, he has served as President of the Board of Directors and Head Coach. Since joining the organization, he has been instrumental in creating opportunities leading to the many successes of the league.

    Nate is a Northern Colorado Native. He has two wonderful children, one of which has played roller derby for 15 years, 5 of those with FoCo Junior Roller Derby before she aged out in 2020.

    He has coached peewee football and little league baseball. He loves sports and especially enjoys how they bring the best out of oneself and unite others as a team. In his spare time, he likes to ski/snowboard, ride bikes, camp, hike, be outdoors, and do CrossFit. He is an ichthyophile, owning many aquaria filled with fish, and likes to fly fish. A world traveler, he has visited France, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, Canada, Netherlands, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Mexico.

    Name is a civil engineer with a 30-year history of design and management of complex, multimillion-dollar projects which include building and designing bridges, roadways, drainage, and river systems.

    Leslie’s daughter has been with the league since March 2019. She started teaching basic skating skills to beginning skaters in September 2019, which she continues to do today. She joined the board of directors in early 2021 and became Vice President in 2022. Leslie runs events production, fundraising and sponsorship, and merchandise, as well as serves on many other committees.

    Her background is in academic research sciences, and she spent most of her career as a project and laboratory manager for multiple life science laboratories. She mentored undergraduate and graduate students, designed and implemented research projects in different scientific disciplines, compiled and analyzed data, published these research findings as primary literature in peer-reviewed journals, and has written many grants and proposals.

    She has recently entered a graduate program at the University of Denver, working on an M.S. in Nonprofit Leadership with a concentration in Philanthropy and Resource Management. It is her hope to use the experiences to help move the organization through this year’s challenges and prepare the league for future endeavors.

    Emily Rose is the former President and current Treasurer on the Board of Directors and has served for 7 years. She is currently the Chair of League Management and handles the day-to-day operations of the organization. Her daughter, “GoneZo,” skates with the league for 8 years before aging out in 2024. Emily also serves as a coach for athletes at all levels of skating ability and as the head coach of the Agoges (B Team). With more than 20 years of experience as a scientist in the field of cell and molecular biology, she has spent her career designing and managing high-throughput projects in an ever-dynamic and challenging field.

    Melissa’s skater has been with the league since 2019. she was recruited to be Secretary of the B.O.D. and shortly thereafter found herself as a volunteer for social media and PR. She has really enjoyed being part of all of it.

    Melissa has worked in elementary education for a bit over a decade. She enjoys cheering on her skater and his team. When they aren’t working or participating in derby, she enjoys getting to wander Colorado with her husband and dogs. She is looking forward to a great final season with FoCo Junior Roller Derby.
